11–15: Combine into a Simple Sentence

  1. She saw a snake. She screamed in fear. (Simple sentence)

  2. He ran very fast. He won the race. (Simple sentence)

  3. The teacher explained the lesson. The students listened carefully. (Simple sentence)

  4. He was given a trophy. He had performed well. (Simple sentence)

  5. The gardener planted flowers. They were colourful and fragrant. (Simple sentence)


16–20: Transformations of Sentences

  1. He was too weak to lift the box. (Rewrite using ‘so...that’.)

  2. If you do not work hard, you will fail. (Rewrite using ‘unless’.)

  3. No other player is as fast as John. (Rewrite using ‘comparative degree’.)

  4. She said, “I will call you tomorrow.” (Rewrite in indirect speech.)

  5. The thief was caught by the police. (Rewrite in active voice.)
